Nightlife

Derry’s vibrant nightlife includes a huge variety of pubs, bars, and nightclubs, with something to suit everyone. If you are looking for a traditional Irish bar, Waterloo Street has plenty to offer with live traditional and contemporary Irish music available in many venues. There are modern bars where the young and cool hang out, as well as traditional pubs that have barely changed in decades. There’s even a fully licensed brewery and restaurant within the city walls that provides both locals and tourists with an authentic taste of the North West by crafting local, authentic, premium quality, flavoursome beer and serving it alongside the area’s best produce.

Attractions

Derry is steeped in fascinating history and relics of the past, and Derry’s walls should be the first stop on your visit to our wonderful city. Built in 1600, the walls have never been breached and form a walkway around the inner city that you can follow to understand the layout of the original town. The centre is packed with visitor attractions that remember our rich history, our troubled past, and our exciting future.

Museums

While away an afternoon taking a stroll back in time through Derry’s fascinating history at one of the four museums we have in the city. The stunning Tower Museum meanders through the story of Derry from Mesolithic times onwards. The Siege Museum examines events and artefacts surrounding the 1689 105 day siege of the walled city of Londonderry – a pivotal event in British and Irish history, the consequences of which still shape our lives today. Marvel at the Gothic splendour of St Columb’s Cathedral, or alternatively immerse yourself in our recent troubled history with a visit to the Museum of Free Derry, which is funded by the Bloody Sunday Trust and examines the Bloody Sunday massacre with dignity and hope for our shared future.
